Hey I’m Spencer!

 

I am a singer songwriter and I write songs about life, about hardships and about God. I try my best to write songs that are upbeat, positive. Growing up on the coast  of Vancouver Island has given me lots of inspiration and themes of nature and the northwest always make their way into my songs.

 

My most recent album “The River” was released at the end of 2023 and adds to the themes of growth and change that were present in my debut album, “Wildlife”. Before that I spent a decade playing in indie rock bands such as Maverick Cinema, Pacific Colours and Young Babylon. 

 

My favourite part about music is the performance. I love playing these songs for anyone who will listen. I have played these songs on festival stages, street corners, hair salons and taco bars.  Typically my performance is composed of original songs with stories intertwined together creating an intimate, yet high energy setting. I usually perform as a duo  paired with guitar or piano melodies layered on top to create my indie-folk style. I love interacting with audiences and have been fortunate enough to perform frequently over the past few years. I have  performed in festivals such as Filberg Fest, Woodstove Festival and Mosaic Festival. With my band, Maverick Cinema, I have performed in festivals such as Rifflandia, Laketown Rock, Laketown Shakedown and 5 Acre Shaker. I have also completed multiple tours reaching as far as Montreal and back.
